Ian Borg has promised that swift justice will be handed out to those who destroyed his Facebook page with hundreds of negative comments and angry reactions.
Borg’s page was demolished this morning after he posted about yesterday’s collapse of a house in Ħamrun that killed one woman, in which he said that some people were trying to take political advantage of the incident.
“I will not rest until those who filled my post with angry comments are brought to justice,” Borg said in parliament this evening.
“No minister should have to face what I did this morning – seeing all the genuine ‘prosit ministru’ comments buried by an avalanche of insults, sarcasm and people telling me I should be ashamed of myself.
“Do you know how many pictures with my daughter I’m going to have to post to repair the damage? It doesn’t bear thinking about.
Borg added that this was not an isolated incident.
“Every time I post something there are always a few people who mock my use of emojis and my hashtag, or say I’m a tree killer. But today’s incident was unprecedented,” he said, adding that he would be calling a national protest to highlight the issue.
“I will also be meeting with Mark Zuckerberg to discuss how similar incidents can be prevented in the future. Enough is enough,”
