Bis-Serjetà managing editor Karl Stennienibarra has confessed to the crime of stealing the heart of ‘The Salott’ founder Moira Palmier.
“Given today’s developments, I feel I need to get something off my chest. I am guilty of theft. Specifically, the theft of Moira Palmier’s heart,” Stennienibarra said.
“If love is a crime then lock me up, throw away the key and get Saviour Balzan to write a story about me,” he added.
Malta’s best journalist said he stole Palmier’s heart back in 1985.
“We used to use the same greengrocer in Sliema, but I never worked up the courage to speak to her. One morning I said, “Those are some fine looking melons,” and she said, “Thank you”, and I said, “I was talking to Leli, the grocer.” It was a bit awkward at first, but that evening we went for ice cream on The Strand and from then on we became inseparable.”
Stennienibarra said that, while their relationship ended acrimoniously a while ago, he still held out hope that their flame could one day be rekindled.
“Yes, we broke up 25 years ago. Yes, she won’t speak to me now. And yes, she still won’t accept my request to join The Salott despite me trying FIVE TIMES to get in. But I know that I still have her heart, even if it is covered in ice at the moment.
