Bis-Serjetà managing editor Karl Stennienibarra is furious after failing to be nominated for a single Malta Journalism Award.
The Malta Journalism Awards, organised by the Malta Institute of Journalists, take place tomorrow night at the Suncrest Hotel in Qawra.
“Say fucking what now?” Stennienibarra said when he heard the news at BS’s headquarters in Għarb, Gozo.
“I work my arse off for an hour a day, take arduous three-hour lunch breaks, and have to sit next to Ivan Camilleri at press conferences, only for those clowns at the IĠM to completely ignore my existence? Well I won’t stand for this.”
“Seriously, 19 categories and they couldn’t find a place for me? Is it cause I’m Gozitan?” he asked before destroying an antique drinks cabinet full of gifts given to Bis-Serjetà by Chris Cardona last Christmas.
“Christ, even Lovin Malta are nominated. For what exactly? ‘Here are the top 10 brunch places ta’ Ras Żobbi?”
“Apparently there’s an award called ‘Best Use Of The Maltese Language in Print and Broadcast Media’. Well award this, motherfuckers…” Stennienibarra yelled before launching into a 50-word Maltese chain-swear that included various saints, bodily fluids and deceased relatives.
Once he had done a breathing exercise and calmed down, Stennienibarra encouraged readers who were equally displeased by IĠM’s outrageous snub to send an email to igm.mediamalta@gmail.com outlining said displeasure.
“I’ve heard they always have really good mini sausage rolls at the ceremony as well, so if any other journalists could save me a few, that would make me feel slightly better,” he said.
Meanwhile, Bis-Serjetà sports correspondent Lippu Bongailas has been nominated for a sports journalism award for the only article he has ever written: ‘Fuck me, Malta wins at football‘.
