Karozzini drivers will fly Air Malta planes if pilots continue their industrial action, Tourism Minister Konrad Mizzi announced this afternoon.
As of next week, new laws come into force that prohibit the traditional horse-drawn cabs from being driven during the hottest hours of the day during the summer months, meaning their drivers will have more time on their hands.
“90% of a pilot’s job is just sitting on your ass while autopilot does the actual work, and 90% of a karozzini driver’s job is sitting on your ass while a horse does the actual work, so the transition will be seamless”, Mizzi said.
Karozzini drivers told Bis-Serjetà they were excited by their new roles.
“I have no idea how to fly a plane, but I assume you just whip it like you would a horse,” said driver Saviour Camenzuli.
“And the price of a karozzin ride is the same as that of a flight, so it can’t be that different,” he added.
