Konrad Mizzi has been appointed as Minister of Magic as part of Robert Abela’s cabinet reshuffle, Bis-Serjetà can reveal.
The Ministry of Magic is the main governing body of the magical community of Great Britain in the Harry Potter books, and as such, is not actually real.
It is understood that Abela created the new ministry specifically for Mizzi after being pestered relentlessly over the past few days by the former Tourism Minister, who was forced to resign in disgrace last November.
“Mizzi kept on begging Robert – phoning him constantly, spamming him on WhatsApp – to reappoint him as a minister. Obviously there was no way Robert was ever going to do that. But after Mizzi visited him at his home at 3am and had a full-blown meltdown, he finally snapped and yelled, “Fine, I’ll make you Minister of Magic,” a source close to the Prime Minister said.
Throughout the books, the Ministry of Magic is depicted as being corrupt, elitist and completely incompetent. It reached a zenith of corruption when it was effectively taken over by Lord Voldemort.
As part of the portfolio, Mizzi will have the same responsibilities as the fictional Minister, including the upholding of magical law and managing relations with muggles.
As in the books, a ‘magical’ portrait of a wizard will be placed in Abela’s office in Castille to allow Mizzi to ‘communicate’ with him.
“Let’s hope Mizzi steps into a fireplace while trying to travel through the floo network,” the source said.
The source noted that Mizzi was not completely unqualified for the position.
“You’ve got to admit he’s good at making money vanish into thin air.”
