Naked, strawberry-covered Mġarr residents wake up feeling slightly ashamed after festival orgy

Hundreds of residents of Mġarr woke up in the village square naked and covered in strawberry juice this morning, after taking part in the Festa Frawli orgy.

The Festa Frawli, an annual showcase of Mġarr’s strawberry-growing heritage, took place on Sunday for the first time in three years after the previous two editions were cancelled due to COVID-19.

After all the tourists and people from outside the village started to leave around sunset, residents carried on partying into the night, with DJ Pierre Portelli switching from mellow electronic music to hard techno.

“Maybe it’s because strawberries are an aphrodisiac and we had been eating them all day, but I suddenly found myself feeling attracted to everyone, male and female,” one resident who wished to remain anonymous told Bis-Serjetà.

By 2 a.m., the church parvis was filled to the brim with writhing naked bodies of all ages, with residents smearing strawberries onto each other as they engaged in all manner of sex acts.

At one point, Mġarr parish priest Fr George Schembri arrived on the scene to chastise the revelers, pointing out how blasphemous it was to have an orgy in front of the church. But he too was soon sucked into the strawberry-fueled bacchanal.

News of the orgy appears to have travelled beyond Mġarr, as former Labour minister Chris Cardona also made an appearance.

“Not even FKK Acapulco had this on the menu,” he said before stripping down and diving into the mass of moaning Mġarrin.

As the sun rose on Monday morning, residents could be seen waking up in a state of confusion, looking around themselves ashamedly and removing jam from their orifices.

“I guess we all needed to let our hair down after Covid,” another resident said as she was searching for her clothes.

Later this week, the local council will vote on whether to make the orgy an official part of the festival.

“Festa Ħaxi u Frawli has a certain ring to it,” Mġarr mayor Paul Vella said.
