Beloved Hollywood actor Pedro Pascal has been shot and killed by Maltese poachers in Miżieb during the filming of Gladiator 2.
Pascal, 48, was filming on location in Miżieb, close to a wooded area popular with local bird hunters, in the early hours of Monday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, two shots rang out shortly after the Game of Thrones and The Last Of Us actor walked onto the set. Pascal then staggered to the ground, bleeding heavily from his torso.
“Obviously, at first we thought it was a tragic accident, but before we could get to Pedro to help him, a white van sped onto the set. Two men wearing camouflage and carrying shotguns got out, finished Pedro off by snapping his neck, loaded his body into the back, and drove off,” shocked co-star Paul Mescal told Bis-Serjetà.
Brandon Pisani, the media liaison officer of the Malta Police Force, said the incident was not the first of its kind.
“Pascal is an incredibly talented, popular and handsome actor, so it’s no surprise he was targetted by poachers, just like what happened in 2005 when poachers shot Eric Bana while he was filming Munich here. That’s why you haven’t heard of him since then,” Pisani said, adding that Pascal’s carcass would likely be stuffed and sold on the black market.
“And have you ever wondered why Brad Pitt hasn’t been in any good films since 2015? Because the current ‘Brad Pitt’ is a body double – the real one was shot in Gozo in that year during the filming of By The Sea. At least he didn’t live to see the reviews.”
Pisani insisted that the police would take the incident as seriously as they take cases of illegal bird hunting.
“Mark my words – we will definitely solve this case sometime this century,” he said.
