Power station to start using stupid Facebook comments as fuel

The Delimara power station will soon begin using stupid Facebook comments made by Maltese people to power the country’s homes and businesses.

During a press conference this afternoon, Energy and Environment Minister Miriam Dalli said the ministry had been researching alternative energy sources due to the strain on Malta’s energy supply caused by COVID-19, as well as the war in Ukraine.

“Given the massive amount of sheer stupidity that’s generated on social media, it made sense to commission a study to find out whether this negative, pointlessly aggressive energy could be harnessed. I am now happy to report that our Government scientists have succeeded in converting Facebook stupidity into electrical energy,” the minister said.

Dr Dalli added that although the technology was in its infancy, a single stupid, poorly spelled Facebook comment could at present generate 50 Watts of electricity.

“The primary sources of this new, practically limitless energy will be comments on news reports about hunting, abortion, the aforementioned war, local politics obviously – pretty much everything that happens on the island. We estimate that a single day’s worth of comments from TVM and ONE’s pages will be enough to meet the country’s energy needs for a month. And all the ‘Prosit Ministru’ comments on politicians’ pages can’t be underestimated either.”

During times of heavy energy consumption, such as the height of summer, Dr Dalli said Malta will import stupid comments from Azerbaijan.
