Prime Minister Robert Abela has advised people to only wear half a face mask as a compromise between preventing the spread of Covid-19 and carrying on as normal.
Following a recent spike in cases, several people criticised Abela for attending a large Labour Party gathering yesterday, where no one was seen wearing a face mask or practising social distancing.
But this morning, the Prime Minister was spotted entering Castille wearing a mask that appeared to have been cut in half.
“I believe this is a solution that will make everyone happy. On one side of my face, I’m showing my positivity, lack of fear and readiness to go out and spend money, while the other side is catching some of the germs,” Abela told reporters, adding that he encouraged everyone to do the same.
Asked if he had run his half-mask theory by health minister Chris Fearne, Abela said:
“Yes, Chris is fully on board with my idea. He said it was brilliant and that I should go to all the upcoming mass events, and to hug and kiss everyone while I’m there.”
