A man is in tears this evening as he prepares to cook his last ever meal using Rummo pasta, a brand imported to Malta by Keith Schembri’s group of companies.
Mark Cutajar, 35, from Mosta, bought several packets of Rummo spaghetti and penne as part of a big shop 10 days ago, before becoming aware of the former OPM chief of staff’s association with the brand and subsequently boycotting it.
“This hurts like hell. I love Rummo pasta so much god damn it,” Cutajar said from his kitchen, his voice trembling as he placed the last remaining spaghetti strands into a pan of boiling water as part of the Carbonara he will share with his girlfriend for dinner.
“I won’t even have to use salty pasta water to make the sauce smoother, because my tears will be enough,” he said.
Cutajar admitted that he used to believe corruption was a victimless crime.
“I now see that I was wrong. I am a victim of systemic corruption at the highest levels of government because I’ll no longer be able to enjoy the delicious taste of Rummo.”
At the time of writing, Cutajar realised he had run out of eggs because he had thrown them all at government ministers in recent days.
“Fuck this government, honestly,” he cried.
