Maltese stoners have reacted with joy to the news they may have to register on a government database if they want to enjoy legal recreational weed.
The government yesterday announced its plans in the run-up to the legalisation of recreational cannabis.
One of the proposals being put forward is that anyone who wishes to buy weed legally will have to sign up to a “user registration system,” and local smokers are welcoming the news.
“There’s this idea that us stoners are lazy good-for-nothings who get lit then spend hours giggling stupidly at back-to-back episodes of ‘It’s Always Sunny’,” said Dylan Caruana from Mellieha.
“But really, there’s nothing I like doing more when I’m blazing than filling in forms online. Even just searching for card numbers and personal documents turns into a fun adventure in its own right.
“The other day I got baked and signed up to Revolut and 10 other online banks, even though I have no intention of ever putting money in any of them.”
Sarah Borg, a pot-head from Tarxien, said she was looking forward to having all her personal details on a government-controlled database.
“Yup, that won’t make me paranoid at all,” she said.
