A woman who regularly writes critical comments about the physical appearances of Love Island contestants has complained about the lack of Maltese women on the show.
Mirabelle Caruana, 52, from Gudja, said the fact that most of the female bombshells – contestants who enter the Love Island villa to disrupt established relationships – were mostly foreign was a sign that Malta “no longer belonged to the Maltese.”
“Is it possible that the producers couldn’t find any Maltese girls? We are losing our country,” said Caruana, who takes to Facebook after each episode to write posts about the slightest physical defects of the show’s young contestants.
“And I mean pretty Maltese girls, not like the fat, ugly sacks of potatoes that are on the show already,” she added.
Asked whether derogatory comments like the above might be the reason why local girls are reluctant to enter, Caruana said:
“As a middle-aged woman in a sexless marriage, whose only hobby is watching reality TV, I am perfectly placed to point out that a female contestant’s eyes are slightly further apart than normal, or that she has an overbite.
“And don’t get me started on how they behave. They’d better not bring in another foreign slut who’s on OnlyFans or I’ll start going to the toilet during the ad breaks,” she said.
