Why I’m in favour of vandalism and censorship – by a hardcore Labourite

A Hardcore Labourite

Editor’s note: The following opinion piece had to be heavily edited due to its catastrophic spelling and grammar.

Hello there. I’m a diehard Labour supporter. You may have seen my comments on Facebook, defending everything the government does and labelling everyone who dares criticise my beloved party as an indannat.

This week, the Great Siege monument was in the news again – first because some hero pelted it with eggs and tomatoes, and then because the courts declared that brave Owen Bonnici was guilty of censorship when he repeatedly had the Daphne (spit!) memorial cleared.

You’re probably wondering why I didn’t condemn the vandalism – especially when I’ve constantly been referring to the pictures of Daphne (spit!), candles and flowers as vandalism – and why I scoffed at the idea of Bonnici resigning for breaching people’s human rights.

The reason is simple: because it’s my party doing the vandalism and censoring, I’m totally fine with it. Just like I’m totally fine with systemic corruption as long as it’s being done by Labour ministers. I agree or disagree with anything I’m told to. I’d even be in favour of abortion if Karl Stagno Navarra told me to, so long as it was only Nationalist foetuses being aborted.

You see, I never really cared about the Great Siege monument. Heck, I didn’t even know who the monument was for until the Daphne (spit!) crowd started putting stuff on it. I thought it was a monument to Maltese television, seeing as the emblem of the Broadcasting Authority is the same. I’ve even pissed on it a couple of times after having a few too many drinks in Valletta.

But you can’t admit all that, so I pretended to be outraged in the name of patriotism. My comments would have you believe I thought about the Great Siege every day. About the sacrifices Maltese people of the time made to defend Valletta from the Arabs.

I’ve often commented that any memorial to Daphne (spit!) should be out of sight in Bidnija. But the truth is, if that happened, I’d drive from my home in Bormla every day just to spit (spit!) on it.

It looks like the memorial won’t be cleared anymore, which is a pity. I can only hope someone blows it up.

And by thw way – where is the laptop?!?!?!
